What is your native language?
How many languages do you speak?
Dutch (native) and English (fluently).
Do you sing?
Yes, in a vocal group.
What types of voice overs do you do?
At the moment mainly in advertising.
How long have you been a voice artist?
FOR almost 15 YEARS NOW.
When did you realize you were good at doing voice overs?
When I did my very first voice-over casting and got selected for the second round. The company flew me to London, where I stayed in a luxurious hotel on the West End which had a pillow menu and served free champagne. I thought ok, this is quite serious, maybe I’m actually good at this...
Do you have a funny anecdote about a voice over job you’ve done?
When I did that casting in London I had to wait for quite some time, which made me nervous. I had no idea what to expect. When I finally got in the room, shaking hands with the whole delegation took longer than the casting itself. After five minutes, in which I had to read the exact same text as I did before, it was already done.
What compliments do you get about your voice?
That I have a warm and welcoming voice.
Do you have a hobby or passion relevant to voice overs that you’d like to comment on?
I’m an actor and a drama teacher. I’ve performed for children and adults at home and abroad. For more than 10 years I’ve been training in Viewpoints, an improvisation technique and the Suzuki Method of Actor Training, in which working with voice is very important. Performing, creating and teaching are my big passions next to voice acting.
